Pacific Northwest Poultry
Association (PNPA) Bylaws

Article I NAME
The name of this organization shall officially be the Pacific Northwest Poultry Association (PNPA).

Article II PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES:

  • The purpose of the PNPA shall be to promote interest in the breeding and exhibition of standard bred domestic land and waterfowl.
  • The objectives of the PNPA shall be:
    • To interest old and young in domestic poultry
    • To provide education in all aspects of rearing, breeding, judging and exhibiting birds
    • To promote a spirit of cooperation among fanciers of all ages
    • To encourage and support, by means of education and awards, other poultry shows
    • To produce the Northwest National and the Northwest Winter Classic in the Willamette Valley or the Portland Metro Area (including Southwest Washington)

Article III MEMBERSHIP

  • Any person subscribing to the purpose and objectives of this organization and paying the annual dues may become a member.
  • The annual dues shall be fifteen dollars ($15) for an individual membership (17 years of age and older), forty dollars ($40) for a three year membership, and ten dollars ($10) for an individual youth membership (16 years or less). Dues are payable in advance on or before the first of January and expire at the end of the calendar year. Dues paid in the last quarter of the calendar year will be valid through the following calendar year.
  • Honorary lifetime members may be nominated by the elected board for members who have provided exceptional service to the PNPA over at least ten (10) years. Nominations will be published in the newsletter and will be voted upon by the general membership at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
Article IV OFFICERS & ELECTIONS
  • The officers of this organization shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Oregon Director, Washington Director, Youth Director, and Director at Large
  • All officers will be elected for two year terms, except the Director at Large role which will be filled by the outgoing President. Nominations will take place in even numbered years.
  • Any member in good standing may be nominated.
  • Any member may serve more than once in a given office but no members shall serve in the same office more than two (2) consecutive terms.
  • Nominations will occur at the regularly scheduled October meeting. The elections committee may bring a proposed slate of candidates and nominations will also be accepted from the floor. Ballots will be delivered either by mail or email with the November newsletter and the winning candidates will be announced at the December meeting.
  • A tie vote shall be decided by a majority vote at the December meeting.
  • Transition to the newly elected Board of Directors shall take place within 30 days following the announcement of election results. The transition includes but may not be limited to:
    • The President will appoint the Newsletter Editor.
    • The President will appoint members of the Education Committee, Web Development Committee, Membership Committee and other committees that may be necessary in order for the PNPA to be successful as an organization.
    • The current and complete membership list shall be transferred to the new President and Secretary.
    • Bank account information shall be transferred to the new President and Treasurer.
    • A copy of the current bylaws shall be provided to the new President if he or she does not currently possess a copy. The President shall ensure that all members of the Board of Directors and the membership have access to this document.
